For all Malaysians returning home, Selamat Pulang ke tanahair, said the cabin crew on my Malaysia Airlines flight bound from Phnom Penh. Immediately when I landed from KLIA, I headed right over to the new Anson Kopi + Patisserie to relish my cravings of Malaysian food despite having an inflight meal earlier because it is true enough when it comes to food, you can never beat the taste of home ( Malaysia).
Thankfully the new location of the restaurant, Petalz Residences, Old Klang Road ( Jalan Klang Lama) that is easily located via waze, I arrived ahead of scheduled time of my welcoming makan makan session with friends. In short, I was the first to arrive. If you are driving to the place, rest assured that parking spaces are aplenty at Petalz Residences.

Upon arrival , the new soothing, cosy, Instagrammble interior of the restaurant with pictures of old Anson ( Teluk Intan), tiffin carriers , traditional kitchen utensils, trees, greeted where one can sit down at the colourful cushions sipping coffee reminiscing memories from down memory lane of the old good days in Teluk Intan ( Anson)
The beauty of living in Malaysia is that we celebrate our daily lives with food. Hence, the Anson Kopi + Patisserie is muslim-friendly cafe caters to everyone regardless of race and religion.
Averagely, most Malaysian consume staples like Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa, Kuey Teow just to name a few for their meals. There’s no too much of nasi lemak, curry laksa for breakfast, lunch or dinner to supper. Nasi Lemak Sotong, Anson Signature Fried Rice , Braised Dark Soy Chicken Rice
Nasi Lemak Sotong – The Nasi Lemak is a common dish Coconut milk rice eaten any time and paired with different side dishes from chicken curry, rendang, fried chicken, seafood to vegetarian. At Anson Kopi, this dish is served with the spicy sambal sotong ( Squid sambal), boiled eggs, fried peanuts, anchovies and slices of cucumber.
Anson Signature Fried Rice – For those who wants a complete meal with carbs and protein, this is for you for it comprises of fried rice, fried chicken, pickles and topped with sunny side up.
Braised Dark Soy Chicken Rice- For the non-spicy eaters, this dish is for you. Rice served with whole chicken leg braised to perfection served with braised tofu, boiled egg and bak choy on the side. The dish is pretty common dish in the Chinese community household.
Curry Laksa , Mee Soto Kedah , Tom Yam Mee Raja, Claypot Yee Mee
Curry Laksa- Noodles eaten with the flavourful curry gravy with condiments- shredded chicken, long beans, fish cakes, prawns, brinjal topped with mint.
Hot Pot Yee Mee – Another classic all time favourite in the Chinese household – Fried Yee Mee ( Noodles) in broth usually served in clay pots to retain the taste and temperature.
